Exhale is an open-mic poetry night and workshop event that aims to get people excited about poetry in all its various forms. Students that want to learn how to express themselves better through spoken word - or just want to listen to some excellent
performances - are welcome to attend.
This year, the event is during Transgender Days at UF. Performing will be Kit Yan, an Asian American transgender poet. From his website: "Kit Yan tells stories through slam poetry from the lens of a queer and transgender As
ian American from Hawaii who travels all over the world on tour. Through touching love poems, coming out stories, and comedic tales of his childhood."
The night will begin with a poetry workshop led by Kit from 4:30 to 6:00 in the Ustler Hall Auditorium. Kit will be working with students to improve their spoken word skills and have some fun doing it!
At 8:00, the open-mic portion begins. Anyone attending is encouraged to show off their talent and perform! Then, from 9:00-9:45, Kit will perform his insightful poetry.
