Gender Bias in Science: Panel Discussion

Details

When: Friday, November 16 2012, 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM
Location: Reitz Union
Category: Speaker/Lecture/Forum

WiSE has invited a panel of speakers, including UF faculty from Biology, Engineering, and Women’s Studies departments, to discuss a recent article (PNAS; 17 Sept 2012) which revealed a continued bias against hiring women in science.  The discussion will include ideas to changing this behavior (acknowledging it occurs, why it occurs, and approaches to overcome it) from the hiring perspective, and also tactics that those seeking professional positions might use to counteract this bias. Anyone is welcome (graduate, undergrad, staff, post-docs, faculty) from any department (science or other), and any gender! Feel free to bring you lunches!
